Shelly Smith, CEO of SECCA
Shelly Smith has been the CEO of Southeastern Early College and Career Academy, SECCA, since 2013. An educator for over 30 years, Shelly brings a wealth of experience to SECCA. Not only has Mrs. Smith taught high school and middle school, but she has served as a curriculum director, federal programs director, ELA consultant, and Executive Director of First District RESA. Her husband of 43 years, Dr. Tim Smith, was one of four area superintendents who established SECCA in 2008. He still acts as an advisor to the board.
David Avery, Director of High School Programs
As Director of High School Programs, David Avery serves as the school and educational leader responsible for the day-to-day operations of SECCA. He brings over 30 years of experience as a teacher and principal. Mr. Avery was Treutlen County High School Principal during the planning and opening of SECCA. He serves as an advocate for the students, staff, school, and community.
