Teaching as a Profession

Teaching as a Profession is a career pathway for 11th and 12th-grade students who have a sincere interest in pursuing a career in teaching and are seriously considering going to college to major in education to become a certified teacher. There are three courses in the Teaching as a Profession Pathway: Examining the Teaching Profession, Contemporary Issues in Education, and Internship. The course format includes online assignments to address course learning standards and an internship component. A typical week of coursework will consist of online coursework by students and five days of experience working in a classroom with a certified teacher in their home school district. Placements will be determined after discipline records, academic records, and teacher recommendations are checked since students will be working as a representative of the school in a classroom with students.
